There are several words that can be used to describe today, and this afternoon in particular: warm, calm, peaceful, beautiful, stunning!
It was just too good to miss, and so I headed off on a long walk around the coast as far as Watermill, before heading back via Telegraph and down past Porthloo.

It's been a while since I ventured over to Tolls Island, and as it was a beautiful afternoon an the tide was out, I thought if take the opportunity to head across the sand and out to the end. The sea was gently slapping against the rocks and seaweed out there.

Lovely & peaceful this afternoon up Watermill. The stream was flowing quite fast though. That's all I could hear walking up the lane.

After a stormy Wednesday with high winds, low pressure and high spring tides causing flooding into Hugh Street, Thursday by contrast was a lovely sunny day. Still a stiff breeze, but certainly warm enough for a walk in lightweight fleece.
The Scillonian heading out past Morning Point & Spanish Ledges.

A sunny but cool day. After the last couple of days off I've had, it was a vast improvement.

Peninnis

It was a pleasant afternoon if not for a cool wind and a dramatic moody sky. I put on a thin fleece and took a stomp up around Peninnis. Luckily for me I got home just in time as the skies turned and we had a half hour torrential downpour with thunder & lightning! That soon passed through though. I can't remember when we last had thunder & lightning? It must be quite a few months ago though.

This small family-run hotel is on the main island of St Mary's. It is old-fashioned in many ways but that's what makes it pretty unique. The rooms are well-appointed, homely and spotlessly clean, if a tad small. There is a small swimming-pool (covered) which is pretty basic. The lounge area and bar, where one waits to be taken downstairs to the dining room, is cosy. The food at all meals is well cooked, all home-made and well presented, the waiting staff always attentive and pay attention in doing this "properly". The staff are all conscientious and multi-task, and proud of what they do. The prices are very reasonable. It is worth more than two stars, the food and service being exemplary. It exemplifies Scilly really - a part of the UK that is still in the 1950s, where standards matter and is not ostentatious. Scilly has lovely beaches, seascapes and gardens and is a part of England that is a million miles away from the frenetic world most of us live in - a real tonic, and escape into the past.. The Bell Rock is worth seeking out if you like things quiet and low-key with nice, tasty food.

You mention the pool area, and I'm pleased to report that this area will be looked at in the winter period for refurbishment plans this year.

We spent 3 nights at the hotel in one of the smaller rooms on the top floor. The room whilst small was perfectly formed with all the facilities that you would expect including a bath in the ensuite. The staff were extremely welcoming and all had a great raport with the guests. We ate in and enjoyed the meals from well thought out menus catering for all tastes. The food was well presented. We would definitely stay again

Buzza In The Fog

Today has been really warm... But with it has brought super thick fog which hung around all day. There has not been any flying at all today. This is one of the reasons we strongly recommend adequate travel insurance.
I took a photo from Buzza looking over the town towards the harbour with Samson behind... Honest it is!!
(I've joined 2 pictures together to give an idea of what the view should have roughly looked like!)
